Job Description

The Director of Pharmacy plans, organizes and directs all functions of the hospital pharmacy services.  Assure all legal, regulatory, and accrediting requirements are maintained at the best demonstrated practice. Maintain a professional presence throughout the hospital.  Assure pharmacy services and activities are carried out to meet goals and standards of Steward Health Care.


Education: Graduate of college of Pharmacy accredited by ACPE or equivalent

Experience: 5 years of pharmacist and manager experience

Certification/Licensure: Current license to practice Pharmacy in state(s) and maintains all required CE and other state required certifications

Other Qualifications should include:

  • Training and proficiency in age specific therapies for hospital patients
    • Neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric
  • Customer oriented at all times - must be diplomatic
  • Manage diverse workforce
  • Pressure to perform in emergency situations
  • Overall decision-making responsibility
  • Ability to handle constant interruptions
  • Ability to handle multiple projects
  • Position is classified as OSHA Category II, where regular job duties have continuous potential of exposure to blood borne pathogens throughout the day.  Steady, active work that may include walking, standing, sitting, bending and stooping.  Work may involve transporting supplies.
