Job Description

The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for providing nutrition assessments and care planning for patients. Conducts nutrition assessments for patients at high, moderate, and low risk, and patients requiring artificial nutrition support. Implementation and monitoring of Medical Nutrition Therapy interventions.  Patient education regarding therapeutic diets and home nutrition support regimens. Aids in ensuring patient satisfaction levels are met at all times. Follows all HIPAA policies.

Evaluates patient's nutritional needs accurately and assures patient's needs are met by delegating responsibilities interdisciplinary. Compiles data, assesses patient and develops patient plan of care appropriately, developing realistic interventions, goals and outcomes.  Develops, initiates and participates in the process of patient education, discharge instructions and preparation of patient and family for discharge.  Strong knowledge in nutritional support required.

The Clinical Dietitian implements business practices in order to hold the GRMC mission and core values and contributes to account revenue and operating profit contribution through the implementation of nutrition services.



At least one year of clinical experience required.  Current registration with CDR and Academy of Dietetics required.  Must be licensed as an RD in the state of Louisiana.


 Good communication skills. Knowledge of food handling standards. Excellent attendance record. Excellent work record with one year food service experience preferred.  Must be able to stand long periods of time. Must be proficient with computers and electronic medical records.
