Responsible for participation and the oversight of Central Sterile Processing staff in areas of decontamination, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of all departmental and hospital wide instrumentation following established infection control practices. Records and maintains accurate records in compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements of all quality control measures for sterilization efficacy. Maintains all instrumentation tracking sheets for purposes of assembly, replacement, and inventory control. Monitors flash cycles and records data and reports to Director any needed instruments causing flash percent to increase. Assist in retrieval of quotes for instrument replacement. Manages repair send outs and keeps up to date logs. Maintains logs of departmental and autoclave cleaning. Keeps unit organized and stocked with required supplies. Participates in performance improvement activities.
High School graduate or equivalent. Current BCLS certification. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of medical terminology and nomenclature of items and equipment used by the department. Knowledgeable of cleaning and sterilization procedures and techniques. Neatness, accuracy, timeliness, adherence to departmental policies and procedures. Performs work responsibilities in a cost-effective manner. Basic computer knowledge.
