Lead Pathology Lab Assistant

 

Responsible for staining various cytology specimens both manually and with the use of an automated specimen processor, while troubleshooting potential problem areas in the staining process. Enters cytology patient information into the LIS. Demonstrates knowledge of, or an ability to learn staining techniques.  Assists the pathologists with logging and preparing pathology specimens for grossing and prepares histology blocks. Answers phone calls for pathology reports, and faxes pathology reports. Performs billing for all technical pathology and cytology procedures including Globals. Assists in the main clinical laboratory performing phlebotomy and specimen processing as needed. 



Qualifications

Requirements:
  • At least one year experience as a CLA, previous pathology experience preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of STAR, ARUP and Quest laboratory ordering systems
  • Able to type 40 WPM minimum.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate effectively in English. Additional Languages helpful.
