Project Manager, Corporate Business Development

Steward Medical Group (SMG), Inc. is Steward’s multi-specialty group practice with over 4,300 employees including over 1,400 physicians and advanced practitioners. SMG operates approximately 450 practice locations throughout Massachusetts, Southern New Hampshire, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, Utah, Arizona, Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas, and treats over 2.5 million patients each year in an outpatient setting.

 

Position Summary:  Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Physician Services, the Project Manager of Corporate Business Development will serve as the "go-to" person for business development ventures involving employed physician groups.  The project manager will work closely with the EVP of Physician Services to manage the business development process, lead the pre due-diligence phase of large scale investments and transactions, and execute on strategic business and growth initiatives. 

 

Potential initiatives include:

  • Acquisition of a physician practice

  • Acquisition or construction of an outpatient facility

  • Outsourcing of a service line

  • Joint venture with a provider

A successful Project Manager is a high performer with well-developed organizational and communication skills and is capable of working independently to produce consistent quality work with minimal supervision and guidance.  The Project Manager will be based in Dallas, TX and will be required to travel approximately 30-40%.

 

 Essential Functions:  

  • Coordinate meetings with potential business partners and employed provider groups and keep detailed records of the meetings

  • Manage follow-up items that result from meetings with business partners

  • Gather information to develop a business case and inform decision making for business development and growth initiatives

  • Develop financial and operational plans for business initiatives and prepare presentations for senior leadership

  • Define the project milestones and deliverables that support the implementation of business initiatives in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders

  • Drive projects aligned with the strategic vision of the enterprise and hand-off to operations when appropriate

  • Collaborate with other Steward business units, in particular the medical group, hospitals and network, in developing and executing business development initiatives

  • Execute other long-term projects as assigned by the EVP of Physician Services

     

Required Knowledge & Skills:

  • Understanding of hospital and physician group operations and related business processes

  • Exposure to complex healthcare projects

  • Experience compiling business analysis using financial information

  • Excellent interpersonal/communications skills

  • Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization

  • Exceptional organizational skills and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks and deadlines

  • Ability to create PowerPoint presentations for senior leadership

  • Expert level skill with Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word, Excel and PowerPoint)



Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent amount of education and experience required.  Masters of Business Administration strongly preferred
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in the healthcare industry, including roles in operations, finance or consulting
  • Experience in management consulting environment with specialization in healthcare strongly preferred
